About Us
We connect local people through singing and provide opportunities for people to sing regardless of experience. Everyone is welcome. LYMM SINGS (formerly Lymm Big Sing) Choir aims to create a space where everyone can share their love for music, make friends, find community support through singing, and inspire others.
Spreading Joy Through Music
The Choir was formed in Spring 2012 to provide the opportunity for people to join together to sing exciting modern popular music in an informal, sociable environment. The genre is mainly popular music, from artists such as the Beatles, Supertramp, Annie Lennox, Fisherman's Friends and songs from musicals. Our aim is to choose music that both the choir and audience will enjoy, and we create in-house arrangements that we hope will inspire the singers. There is always a wonderful atmosphere and buzz of excitement at the start of a new season of rehearsals!

Since early retirement from teaching in 1997 Michael has worked on a number of original cantatas for schools for which he was also musical director and orchestral conductor. In addition he has pursued a parallel career as a freelance musician. Michael supports the choir playing saxophone, among other instruments, and also arranges some of the backing tracks for the choir.

Josh Monks
Josh, as well as being one of the musical directors for Lymm Sings, is the Music Coordinator for Warrington Youth Orchestra. Since his time at Lymm High School he has been engaged with both instrumental and choral music, and studied Music at the University of Birmingham with a focus on conducting, at which time he co-founded the university String Orchestra and sang with the BBC Proms Youth Choir at the First Night of the Proms. Josh has since worked in the music department of Casterton Sedbergh Preparatory School in North West England, taking part in regular concerts and accompanying the school Chamber Choir on a trip to perform in Cambridge. In addition to directing Lymm Sings and overseeing the music technology, Josh arranges some of the choral parts and backing tracks for the choir, and also performs with the small ensemble of singers, Shades of Blue.

Lymm Sings Choir
Our vibrant choir welcomes people of all ages! There are no auditions required and don't worry about reading music; you can easily learn from tracks. Men, in particular, are especially encouraged to join our friendly group of 50 to 60 members who come together to enjoy singing.

Shades of Blue
Shades of Blue is a small ensemble of passionate singers, many of whom have sung under Susan's leadership as part of the vocal group Amicus. Shades play a versatile role, from supporting the main choir to performing solo pieces in their own right. Their contributions add an extra dimension to choir arrangements, enhancing the overall musical experience.
